Pregnancy

Many pregnant women crave sour food, and achar or pickle, definitely ticks the right boxes. It's okay to eat achar in moderation and with caution. Too much of it may cause indigestion issues and especially if it is shop-bought, it may have too much added salt and sugar, which is not good for your health in pregnancy.

Postpartum

During the postpartum period, you can eat sour foods like achar in moderation. As with all foods, homemade achar is the healthiest and safest option.

Breastfeeding

It is safe to eat achar while breastfeeding. Opt for the homemade kind if possible, as you know exactly what goes into it and you can also control the salt and the sugar that is added to it.

Baby

Avoid giving achar to your baby. The high acidic content can cause indigestion issues. And salt and sugar are not good for your baby's health.
